YO 7A BIRTHDAY IS HERE!

On the 7 April, a wonderful class was born (actually not really true haha, but nvm). This day falls on mon, so people try to make it ><. We will mostly likely be going for lunch (or dinner if you all want). We will most probably chit-chat, tok tok, cut cake, laugh laugh, happy happy and relax relax. Weeeeeee this makes school life interesting =) Anybody got any better suggestions on things to do on that day? coz the next day is still a schooling day, so cant do much. Unless we wanna celebrate it on sun, then can have a (proper) class outing =) Yujie suggested to go cycling! i think it is not a bad idea (haha she wants to cycle very badly lol) Give your suggestions people =)

And regarding the SPA A pg 13 where they ask you to identify the "presence of some of the intermediate products" (of the digestion of starch to maltose by enzyme maltase), a quick search on wikipedia gave me this:



Dextrin

"Dextrins are a group of low-molecular-weight carbohydrates produced by the hydrolysis of starch. Dextrins are mixtures of linear α-(1,4)-linked D-glucose polymers starting with an α-(1,6) bond. Because branched amylopectin and glycogen also contain α-(1,6) bonds, which α-amylase cannot hydrolyze in humans, the digest resulting from this action contains a mixture of dextrins. They have the same general formula as carbohydrates but are of shorter chain length. Industrial production is, in general, performed by acidic hydrolysis of potato starch. Dextrins are water-soluble, white to slightly yellow solids that are optically active. Under analysis, dextrins can be detected with iodine solution, giving a red coloration." - Wikipedia

So basically it means that the α-(1,6) bonds at branch point in amylopectin cannot be hydrolysed by amylase (α(1,6) glucosidase is needed in addition for complete digestion), resulting in the formation of polysaccharide dextrin, which gives a red/reddish-brown coloration in iodine solution.

CT OUTING WAS FREAKING FUN!

ANYWAY, yesterday was our supposedly "ct outing". BUT

5 out of 26 came in the afternoon and 8 out of 26 came for the dinner.

that is so fun!

the people who turned up are less than the people who turned up for my og outing which was quite sad already.

HOWEVER, we will not be affected by this small obstacle in our lives. :) we will continue to persevere and HOPEFULLY we will have a SUCCESSFUL ct outing! :D

and because of the small number of people turning up, we do not have pictures to put up! so next time more people come so we can have MANY pictures! :D

We'll be setting up 2 stalls - games and drinks.

GAMES

01. Ping-a-pong!
Rules:
a) The player is given 5 ping pong balls.
b) He has to throw the 5 ping pong balls into the “holes” in the egg carton. Each “hole” is painted using a different colour. Each colour signifies a different number of points.
c) Prizes will be awarded at the end of the game.

02. Ring-a-ring!
Rules:
a) The player is given 5 rings.
b) He has to throw the 5 rings into the necks of the bottles.
c) Each successive throw will be awarded with a prize.

DRINKS

01. Milo dino
02. Horlick dino
03. Coffee dino etc..

More suggestions're welcome as the above's not finalised. Just what we've come up with so far during a random mass convo.(: Haha.
